My ONCA Story by Lily Rigby

2019 Exhibiting Artist

I have been lucky enough to exhibit at ONCA Gallery twice.

My most recent solo exhibition there was What The Water Gave me, which was in November 2019. My paintings for this exhibition were all inspired by the power of water, which I am often drawn to. The landscape can ignite all sorts of emotions in us, and I hope my paintings do this too.

I spent about a year working towards this exhibition and ONCA were so supportive throughout the whole process and helped with any questions I had along the way. When it came to hanging the show they were amazing! My dad and friend helped too and between us all we got the whole exhibition hung and lit beautifully.

Exhibiting with ONCA helped me reach a new audience for my work and I had some sales to people I hadn’t met before which was amazing. I think having work in a professional gallery really helps people see you as a serious artist too. Both exhibitions with ONCA helped me feel like my dream of being an artist is becoming a reality.

I have also been a part of Graduate Monthly with ONCA for the last 2 years, which has been an amazing support network for my work. It is so inspiring to meet other local artists, share our ideas and worries together and help each other along the way. Thank you ONCA!
