Press Release: Help ONCA Raise £20,000 for 2020!

20 January 2020

ONCA has launched a crowdfunder campaign to help raise important funds towards our programme of environmental learning and action in 2020. We have until the end of January to reach our target of £20,000.

Alongside our gallery venue, we manage the ONCA Barge at Brighton Marina, a community centred learning space that supports artist development and offers a programme of creative activities for young people and families in East Brighton.

Funds raised will go towards environmental learning projects taking place at ONCA Barge, Brighton Marina reaching new audiences in East Brighton. Anyone donating to our campaign is making a real difference in helping to raise engagement with the climate crisis.

“I hire a desk in ONCA’s co-working space for my work with The Democracy Center, and I’ve collaborated with ONCA on pair of environmental justice solidarity events. I’ve really appreciated being part of the community here, and having the opportunity to reach different people through the space that’s being made available by the gallery for those events. I just think ONCA fulfils a really useful space for bringing together arts with activism, with academia. And as we’ve seen in the events that I’ve done here, that provokes some really interesting conversations. So I really encourage you to support their work – to give whatever you can, and to also spend time here, come and see the works on display as well, and come and find out more about what they do.”

– Mads Ryle, The Democracy Center

NatWest’s Back her Business fund has awarded ONCA’s crowdfunder £5,000 – pushing us well over the half-way mark.

“Many of us in the charity sector are crowdfunding to bring in those critical funds to help keep our work going. So, when you receive a donation in the four digits, it’s something you want to shout about! NatWest’s significant contribution puts us closer to the finish line. However, we have £9,000 left to raise by the end of January and are calling on the support of businesses and individuals to give to the campaign today. We need your support to keep hold of the match funding (which we lose unless we reach our goal), so every donation really counts. In December, we received a £500 donation from Michael Bell Brand Communications Ltd which was another real boost to the campaign. If another 20 local companies pledged at that same level, we would surpass our target.”

– Amie Rai, ONCA co-director

We’ve had a wide range of supporters so far, including Caroline Lucas MP and Louis Theroux! So whether you are an individual or a part of a business or organisation, please give what you can today by clicking here.
