Nourish: The World of Food and The Food of Our World
21 April 2017
6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Nourish: An interactive meal exploring and discussing nourishment in the world of food and the food of our world by Elise Wach & Old Tree Brewery
Join us for an evening to explore and experience the world of food, and the food of our world. What nourishes us in our food? What foods nourish our wider local and global communities and what nourishes our earth? Where are the frontiers or borders of local? Who decides and does it matter? In a time when there is so much choice and so much information (often conflicting), we will come together to discuss, dine and digest nourishing food.
This interactive event is a combination of discussion, a short talk and the chance to experience a delicious two course meal prepared by Old Tree Brewery. While exploring these big issues we will ensure we do not get too much in our heads but are also grounded in the taste and nourishment of food itself.
The event is part of our April exhibition SWAY by Solange Leon and facilitated by Elise Wach, a researcher, activist and food grower. Elise works with small-scale farmers and their wider communities in various countries with the aim to co-create transitions towards more regenerative food systems. She is a research advisor at the Institute of Development Studies (University of Sussex), doctoral researcher at the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (Coventry University) and grows food at a community project on Whitehawk Hill in Brighton.
You can also support SWAY by sponsoring one of the birds that will form part of the installation on display in the gallery. If you have any access requirements please contact / 01273 607101
