Listening Lab with Andrés Saenz de Sicilia

A listening lab featuring sounds capturing in The Living Coast UNESCO Biosphere during Andrés Saenz de Sicilia’s TLC artist residency.

Join us on the ONCA Barge at Brighton Marina for a listening lab featuring sounds capturing in the Brighton & Lewes Downs UNESCO Biosphere during Andrés Saenz de Sicilia’s The Living Coast Artist Residency. An immersive soundscape lasting around 45 minutes will be performed on a multi-channel sound system, with space for participants to sit or lie down and listen. The presentation will be following by a discussion between the artist and audience.

About the artist

Andrés Saenz de Sicilia is a British-Mexican sound artist/performer, philosopher and researcher. He holds a PhD from the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy, Kingston University London and teaches at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. His works and performances have been featured in programs at the British Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum, Café OTO, Whitechapel Gallery, Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma, Villa Lontana, Flat Time House and ZKM Center for Art and Media, Karlsruhe. He has released music both under his own name and as Pataphysical on record labels including 12th Isle, Good Morning Tapes and Villa Lontana Records.

Accessibility

Please contact or 01273 607101 if you have specific access needs, please note the gallery is wheelchair accessible but the toilet is up five stairs.
