For this year’s Remembrance Day for Lost Species, ONCA is excited to be collaborating with local textile artist Katie Tume to showcase art about biodiversity loss and environmental justice. We will have an exhibition on our website and in the gallery window from 27th November until January 2021.

Remembrance Day for Lost Species, which happens on November 30th every year, is a chance to explore the stories of extinct and critically endangered species, cultures and ecological communities. This year’s exhibition will respond to the question:

How can remembrance practices for extinct species address systemic injustice? Understanding the links between species extinctions and racism.

We are looking for artists working in any medium (it doesn’t have to be textiles) who would like to show their work alongside the textile artist Katie Tume, either in the gallery window or online.   If your work explores these themes, please email with examples of your work by midnight, 31st October. We are happy to receive video submissions either in English or BSL. We will pay a fee to artists whose works are shown in the gallery window.
