Tracey Warr on Zooetics

2 March 2015
5:00 pm
6:30 pm

Zooetics is a five year art research project on the boundary between human knowledge and the knowledge of other species.

The project is led by Jutempus (Nomeda Urbonas, Gediminas Urbonas, Tracey Warr and Viktorija Siaulyte). It began last year by unpacking, re-evaluating and re-combining notions of The Anthropocene, Nature and Interspecies. Now the team are moving forward into practice-based research inspired by future fictions, and especially by early novels and stories written by J.G. Ballard.

Zooetics sits within the EU-funded Frontiers in Retreat network examining fragile ecologies across Europe. In addition to Jutempus in Lithuania, Frontiers in Retreat has partners – mostly in remote art residency locations – in Scotland, Finland, Iceland, Spain, Serbia and Latvia.

Tracey Warr writes fiction and non-fiction, working in the vicinity of art. She will outline the development so far of the Zooetics project.
