Solidarity Sewing Workshop with Bern O’Donoghue

10 May
1:30 pm
3:30 pm

Join artist Bern O’Donoghue for a Solidarity Sewing Workshop where you’ll stitch messages of support for refugees and asylum seekers.

If you had a message of solidarity for people on the move, what would it be and would you be prepared to wear it? Bring an item of your clothing to ONCA gallery and stitch your message of solidarity with refugees and asylum seekers who chose the UK as a place of sanctuary.

The most recent development in the UK government’s attack on migration is mass arrests of asylum seekers and refugees across the country in preparation to deport people to Rwanada following the passing of the Safety of Rwanda Act. This moment calls for collective action and visible support of the right to claim asylum.

Creatively channel your solidarity in this session where you’ll use basic stitching techniques to decorate items of your clothes from home.
