Sexy Killers: Screening & Discussion
17 July 2019
6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
‘Sexy Killers’ is a controversial independant documentary film showing the links between Indonesian coal and energy companies and the country’s political elite.
The film was released online the day before the 2019 Indonesian presidential election, and was screened at more than 470 locations throughout Indonesia. This 86 minute film is offers a different way of looking at coal extraction, bringing together politics, ecology, capitalism, colonialism and climate change.
This event accompanies the photography exhibition ‘Extracting Us‘ – offering another layer to engage with and reflect on in response to the issues it raises. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Indonesian scholar-activist Siti Maimunah and friends fighting against coal extractivism.
