Brighton Science Festival kids’ workshops – Science in the Arctic

13 February 2018
10:00 am
12:00 pm

Bea von Preussen

Arctic Adventure children’s art/ science workshops with Bea von Preussen & Ellie, ONCA’s outreach artist. £10 per participant/ £8 siblings. For all ages up to 12. Under 5s must be accompanied.

Join an artist and a scientist who met in the arctic circle. Have a go with scientific equipment and make your own arctic samples to take home. An exciting hands on workshop exploring science in a creative way.

How do scientists sample clouds? What can water samples tell them, and why do they want to know? Printmaker Bea met a group of scientists during her expedition to the arctic circle. Find out why scientists are on a mission to investigate freshwater sites heated by underground volcanoes.

In this workshop we explore what arctic scientists do and why they do it. Participants will have the opportunity to have a go with real data collecting equipment and make their own sample kit to take home. Everyone is invited to make an artistic contribution to our Imaginary Natural History Museum.
