Joe Minihane is a journalist, author and editor based in Brighton. Floating: A Life Regained, his retracing of Roger Deakin’s Waterlog in a bid to conquer anxiety, is his first book. It is published in paperback by Duckworth Overlook on 5th April.

Floating: Waterlog Reswum, the paperback version of Floating: A Life Regained, follows Joe Minihane’s journey around the UK retracing the wild swimming odyssey undertaken by late naturalist Roger Deakin in his nature writing masterpiece, Waterlog. Joe’s journey is more than a simple retelling, his obsession with open water part of a bid to conquer the anxiety and depression which had come to dominate his day to day life. Floating is a story of friendship, self–examination and the joy found in sliding into cold bodies of water in an attempt to come up for air.

‘Lovely, lively, passionate… a celebration of nature’s ability to inspire healing and joy’ –Robert Macfarlane
