Lost Species Day 2023: Climate Café (online)

5 December 2023
6:00 pm
8:00 pm

A mixed media image depicting collage that speaks to a range of feelings including pictures of people protesting, flowers, tea, individuals, trees, cats, buildings and words like 'togetherness', 'wellbeing' and 'all the feels'

To mark Lost Species Day 2023, join us for the last ONCA Climate Café of the year.

This time we’ll be gathering online so that people anywhere can come into community around Lost Species Day, a chance each year to explore the stories of extinct and critically endangered species, cultures, lifeways, and ecological communities. Whilst emphasising that these losses are rooted in violent and discriminatory governing practices, the day provides an opportunity for participants to make or renew commitments to all who remain.

In this context, Climate Café is an open space where people can share their feelings around the climate crisis and other social problems that it relates to. We invite everyone to participate respectfully acknowledging differences in our unique lived experiences. It’s a space to listen and talk, expressing what we feel, whether that be rage, confusion, hope, joy, curiosity or anything in between! The intention is for us to process our emotions with the support of community.

During the session you’ll be guided through some reflective exercises like journaling so we ask that you please bring a paper and pen with you (or you can make notes on your phone if that’s preferable). You may be invited to stand up and move your body or you may wish to sit or lie down comfortably so please take time to set up your space. We’ll have a few moments to settle in when we start.

Please note: our facilitators are not mental health professionals and have varying levels of training by Climate Psychology Alliance and Grassroots Suicide Prevention.

If you have any questions about the event please contact or call 01273 607101, thank you.
