Benjamin Youd: River Story
5 September – 14 September
Set within a single location, River Story quietly observes the continuous changing of the seasons and the dichotomy of human presence in a natural environment, along a winding river. It contemplates our desire to reconnect with the natural spaces and life that surrounds us, after centuries of pursuing the ideology of a ‘dominion over nature’. Our movements are tentative and uncertain, yet slowly we embrace the unity we need to survive.
In collaboration with the environmental charities: Friends of the Earth, Sussex Wildlife Trust, Pesticide Action Network UK and The Ouse and Adur Rivers Trust, Benjamin aims to inspire a deeper connection between people and the natural world through this work. There will a series of free talks to facilitate conversations around our relationship to nature and the environmental challenges that need our attention during the exhibition – details below.
