An Evening with Charlie Hertzog Young

20 October 2023
6:00 pm
7:30 pm

EVENT CANCELLED: Join us for this hybrid event, an evening with climate justice advocate and author Charlie Hertzog Young.

**This event will include triggering content such as mental health, suicide, ableism and suicide attempt. Please take care when choosing whether to attend**

Charlie Hertzog Young will join us at ONCA to deliver a talk and workshop about climate action and mental health. We’ll hear about his almost two decades of involvement in the climate movement, and about the deterioration of his mental health in response to the alienating effects of living in a dominant culture that fails to acknowledge the urgency or enormity of the ecological crisis.

We will then hear Charlie read from his recently-released book, Spinning Out, which adopts a research lens to assess the structural factors causing mass emotional dysregulation at a time of multiple crises. Afterwards, audience members will be invited to think through ways that climate action can nurture community health.

Accessibility

This is a hybrid event, meaning it will happen in person at ONCA Gallery and online. If you have any questions or access requirements please email or call 01273 607101.

Please note: the majority of our facilitators are not mental health professionals. We have varying levels of training  with the Climate Psychology Alliance and Grassroots Suicide Prevention. There will be a trainee counsellor present at the event.
