Aesthetic Initialisms
18 February 2019
12:00 pm – 8:00 pm
A new exhibition that brings together emerging artists to celebrate LGBTQ+ history month.
Exhibiting artists: Lucie Rachel | Sarah JW Dean | Samantha Helen Drew | Ëpha J. Roe & Bethan Clarke | Benjamin Matthews | Rupert Tuesday
Featuring photography, mixed media and film, this exhibition sheds light on issues that the LGBTQ+ community faces whilst also celebrating its diversity and power. From soft and gentle portraits of queer love to abstracts expressing the joy to be found in coming out, this exhibition will reveal new perspectives on a much overlooked community. After this one day showing at ONCA the exhibition will more to the University of Sussex where it will be on display from 6th – 8th March.
Curated by Charlotte Graham-Spouge. Charlotte is an MA photography student, queer artist and curator from London. She is inspired by her travels and work abroad. She has consistently used her practice to diversify the reach of art platforms. In 2017, she exhibited paintings that highlight how student finances affect the education of people around the world, not just in the UK. Now, she is excited to be working with ONCA and the University of Sussex to challenge prejudices around the LGBTQ+ community.
Exhibition open 12 – 8pm with a cash bar 6 – 8pm, entry is FREE and everyone is welcome.
