The Wood Store was the first scheme of its kind in the country. They collect waste timber for reuse and recycling, keeping it as far up the waste hierarchy as possible.
In 1998 when they began, hundreds of thousands of tonnes of wood was sent to landfill every year, which they thought was a terrible waste – why not collect that unwanted wood so that it could be reused or made into useful things, creating opportunities for people to gain work experience and learn new skills at the same time?
The Wood Store have been kind enough to donate some beautiful recycled book shelves that we keep in the gallery to store our craft materials for workshops and our shop stock.
A big thank you to all of the team at The Wood Store for your continued support!
