Lost Species Day 2023: Spells to Bind Giants 2 – FIRE – with Feral Theatre

30 November 2023
6:30 pm
8:00 pm

On 30 November, join Feral Theatre online to design shields and cast spells for protection from the giants of war.

Lost Species Day 2023 takes place in the context of devastating state violence and civilian bloodshed in Israel and Palestine, as well as ongoing armed conflicts in Ukraine, Myanmar and many other places.

The giants enacting this violence are the military-industrial complex: arms manufacturers, extractivist industries, politicians and corporations vying for control of the Earth’s resources at any cost. The flames of this violence consume and kill the most vulnerable people, along with the places, ecological communities and webs of life they call home.

On November 30, join Feral Theatre online to mark Lost Species Day by designing shields and casting spells for protection from the giants of war. We will begin by exploring the role of war in defending capitalism and colonial extractive systems. Then we’ll cast two spells: one together, and one individually on paper which you will be invited to burn after the session.

Please bring:

  • a candle
  • some paper or card
  • something to draw or write with (no artistic ability is required).
