AYPH: Photography Competition

9 January 201913 January 2019

2018 marks the ten year anniversary of AYPH: The Association for Young People’s Health. To help celebrate they have been running a Photography Competition through the year that asks young people: ‘What does health mean to you’?

AYPH says: “Our mission through the competition has been to get young people, aged 10 – 24 years old, to reflect on their personal health journey and to explore the holistic and sometimes emotional sides to health. AYPH participation staff ran workshops with youth groups, including; youth volunteering services, hostels for homeless young people and youth theatres, to explore concepts of health and to expand health literacy.”

ONCA is delighted to be showcasing the photographs young people have submitted for this competition. The exhibition is a glimpse into how young people feel about their health, what is important to them and how they wish to creatively express themselves. It shows the top eight entries to the competition. These are the winners and runners up who have submitted photos judged by healthcare professionals, AYPH staff and professional photographers.

Over the last 10 years AYPH has raised the profile of young people’s health, improved understanding about young people’s needs and promoted youth friendly health services.
