Pakistan Floods Solidarity Fundraiser: Weaving Workshop

23 September 2022
11:00 am
1:00 pm

A circle weaving workshop using colours inspired by the spices used in traditional South Asian cuisine.

Join artist Saj Fareed for this workshop where we’ll be creating our own circle weave artworks. This lovely mindful arts activity encourages us to slow down and be present whilst exploring South Asian culture through colours inspired by the spices used in traditional cuisine.

This relaxing and informal session will allow participants to experience the joy of slow crafts guided by Saj’s life-long passion for textile-based work.

About Saj

Saj Fareed is a British Asian slow artist and artist educator. She has developed her career working on a wide range of art education projects for museums, galleries, schools and many other establishments for over 25 years. Saj has a keen interest in promoting the arts and crafts to a wider audience and as a tool for creative expression and learning. The aim is to also empower and inspire individuals in their own creative process. Through her practice, Saj takes inspiration from her desire to live a slower pace in her life and the importance of creative self-care for our wellbeing.

Donations

This event is part of a wider events programme aimed at raising funds to support the Pakistan flood relief efforts. It’s drop-in and free to attend but donations are strongly encouraged, either via Eventbrite or on the door. All proceeds will go to WDF (Women Democratic Front) a Pakistan-based, independent socialist-feminist resistance movement, providing aid to communities affected by flooding since 2018.
