Pocket Epics: Puppet King Richard II

11 May 201818 May 2018

Puppet King Richard II

A hit at Brighton Fringe 2017, Pocket Epics “****impishly creative” (TheStage) Puppet King Richard II returns to ONCA by popular demand.

Inspired by Czech animation and 1960’s kids TV, Shakespeare’s verse drama about arbitrary power, regime change, love and trust becomes a hands-on, visually rich show using wooden spoons, fancy gloves and real puppets.

Puppet King Richard II

“…as good as anyone you will see perform Richard II on stage. Highlights include a scene completely played by three spoons, a flying segment with a garden fork, bendy reading lamps for spotlights – and you have not really witnessed Shakespeare until you see one glove puppet slap another glove puppet in the face with a glove, in challenge of their honour.” ReviewsHub 4.5****

Created especially for ONCA’s atmospheric basement yard, this is an intimate show and places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

A FringeReview Must-See production at 2017 Brighton Fringe, suitable for everyone 12+
