Zine-Making In A Mad World
25 April
7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Join Micha Frazer-Carroll for a zine-making workshop and talk about their recently published book, Mad World: The Politics of Mental Health.
We’ll hear about Mad World, a book interrogating the category of madness and explaining how the current mental health crisis is connected to capitalism, racism and other social justice issues. Afterwards, we’ll create our own zines, exploring the radical history of zine-making whilst sipping tea, and delve into using art as a mad liberation tool.
There will be the chance to buy a copy of Mad World on the night or you can purchase a copy from Micha Frazer-Carroll’s website here and a portion of the profit will be donated towards relief efforts in Gaza.
This talk is offered as part of a wider project called Climate Café which seeks to take care of anyone working in areas of climate or social justice including activists and political organisers. It responds to the unique mental health stresses caused by lived experiences of climate and social justice work by offering community care that centres restorative activities.
