We collaborate with artists of colour and POC-led organisations to curate and support events and exhibitions that challenge the legacies of colonialism and racism within mainstream arts and culture.
Decolonising art and culture at ONCA
At ONCA, we recognise the ways in which mainstream art, culture and education systematically privilege white and Eurocentric ideas and perspectives, while marginalising and exploiting people of colour.
To challenge this, we hosts events & exhibitions in collaboration with artists and activists of colour, which confront these colonial legacies and reimagine futures of liberation. Here are some of the most recent projects and exhibitions that we have curated and supported:
- Desire & Resistance (2019)
- Some of Us Did Not Die (2018)
- Decolonising Beauty Standards (2018)
- Dreams of Disguise (2018)
- Decolonise Book Club (2017)
