Statement about changes to our venue hire:
Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and the need for organisations to implement social distancing measures, the ONCA gallery is currently closed to the public and we are not accepting hire enquiries for events or exhibitions until further notice. For more information please click here to read our full statement.
We have a backlog of exhibition bookings that were rescheduled due to lockdown that will now take place between October 2020 & April 2021, these will be online with accompanying displays in our new window gallery space.
Between May & December 2021 ONCA will deliver a curated programme focusing on frontline environmental and social justice issues. We will be accepting a limited number of hires between January & April 2022 and anticipate that we will receive more enquiries than we can accommodate. We will therefore prioritise projects/exhibitions that fit within our programming themes, our commitment to accessibility and inclusion, and our commitment to anti-racist practice.
We appreciate that for some this will be disappointing – ONCA has built a reputation over the years as an approachable and supportive exhibition/event venue that local and emerging artists can hire, which we are extremely proud of. We are adjusting to working at reduced capacity and within the uncertainty of ever changing Covid restrictions. We need to ensure that the support we offer to artists is manageable, hence the departure from our usual way of operating the gallery. Please be assured that we remain committed to supporting as many artists as possible through our work.
Further information about our programming plans for 2021/22 and how to submit a hire enquiry will be announced shortly.
Thank you for your understanding.
Lydia Heath, Gallery Manager – On behalf of the ONCA team.
