Duetting: Weather Writing Workshop and Book Launch
12 December
6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
In times of grief and complexity, how can we duet with each other to form meaningful connections across worlds, shores and borders?
Inspired by a 4-year collaborative writing project between Clare Whistler and Laura Coleman, from East Sussex to the Isle of Eigg in Scotland, this workshop will explore how to forge embodied connections through letter writing: working in tandem with the environment, the weather, and with each other. Whilst so many doorsteps around the world are under threat, this workshop acknowledges the privilege of having a place of safety on which to stand, and will be one of the last events at ONCA Gallery before it closes.
The event will finish with the launch of a notebook, ‘Duetting: Weather Writing from Two Doorsteps’, which includes an invitation to find your own duet partner or partners, and to write together, continuing the project through the ever-changing weather patterns of our times. We hope this work helps to shape connections, with each other, with our thresholds, and with the complex worlds that hold us, in joy and in grief.
This event is open to anyone, no writing experience necessary. Feel free to come on your own, with a companion, or with many companions. Tickets are free but please bring cash or a card on the day as there will be books for sale.
