The Unbearable Whiteness of Green: An Environmental Justice Workshop

14 July 2019
12:00 pm
3:30 pm

At a time of escalating urgency and scale in the environmental movement, this is a workshop for people who want to address “the unbearable whiteness of green” (Van Jones).

Through facilitated dialogue, small group work and creative activities, the session will examine the ways in which white supremacy permeates the mainstream environmental movement and the climate crisis.

This is a space for white people and people of colour to understand and critique contemporary British and global environmentalist practices, and explore alternative models of action that centre solidarity with people of colour, and incorporates class awareness.

Hosted by ONCA’s Comms Manager Susuana Amoah and Director Persephone Pearl.

This workshop will be taking place on ONCA Barge. The Barge is wheelchair accessible, however please note that at low tide the ramp from the Marina walkway down to the dock is steep for a wheelchair. Click here for further access information.
